Not quite gardening; but, a great outdoorsy tip all the same.
A run-in with poison ivy is never fun - to put it mildly! But, if you act fast, you can lessen the effects of the rash or even head it off entirely. All you need to do is swab the affected skin with rubbing alcohol which will cut through the plant's toxic oil and dilute it. Then wash the area thoroughly with soap and water.
